VIII Fall Dance Concert

Date & Time:
Saturday, November 21, 2020 - 4 p.m.

VIII is the Saint Mary's College Dance Programs Fall Concert, a shared dance performance created and produced by eight student choreographers, Dance Majors from the Class of 2021. The artists of this shared performance are exploring the complex and timely concepts of relationships, isolation, societal pressure, seeking the truth, conformity, feelings of anxiety, resiliency, and adaptation.

The concert will also feature a Tap Dance on film by Guest Artist and SMC Alumni Micah Sallid, a dance-theater work by Professor Jia Wu, and a duet investigating memory by Professor CatherineMarie Davalos. This online concert will include both live-streaming from LeFevre Theater and pre-recorded dance films created this semester, all of which are strictly adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols set by the CDC and Saint Mary’s College.

In this uncharted time of self and collective transformation, these emerging choreographers have persisted to make thoughtful art investigating critical issues and exploring personal growth.

Concert link will be livestreamed at 4pm (choreographers' bios begin at 3:30pm) on Saturday, Nov. 21, and will be available to watch on-demand through Sunday, November 22 with this link: After that, it will be on-demand on Vimeo through the academic year See promo video at the bottom of this page.
