Biography

Arthor Curley was born on October 16, 1986 in Novato, CA to the late Darlene Winn-Curley and Arthor R. Curley.  His parents preceded him in death in January 1988 and April 1991, respectively.  Arthor was the only child born to this union.  Following his mother’s death in 1991, Arthor began living with his aunt and legal guardian, Annette Winn, at the age of four.  Annette raised Arthor as her own son and honored her sister’s wishes by keeping him connected to his family, church and attending college.

In 2004, Arthor enrolled at Saint Mary’s College of California where he was heavily involved in numerous campus groups and departments, including but not limited to the Admissions Office, Associated Students, Black Student Union, Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action, High Potential Program, Intercultural Center, New Student and Family Programs, and many more.  In 2007, Arthor attended American University in Washington, DC for a semester and returned the following semester to complete his education at his beloved Saint Mary’s College.

After graduating from Saint Mary’s in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Communication, Arthor left California and moved to Newburgh, NY where he became a Lasallian Volunteer.  He worked as a teacher and Student Services Coordinator at the San Miguel Academy.  Since 2009, Arthor has supported the Lasallian Volunteers (LV), assisting at LV retreats as an LV Alumni Mentor.  His last place of employment was at the the Doe Fund Inc. as a Computer Instructor.

Arthor is survived by his mother, Annette Winn, and his only brother, Malcolm Hollins.  As a leader, Arthor was a loving, affectionate, and good-hearted person who would go out of his way for almost anyone.  He was loved and adored by his friends and family.  He will truly be missed, and we honor his legacy through this book scholarship.
