Call for Proposals

Call for Proposals

We invite college and university faculty, K-12 school teachers, independent scholars and graduate and undergraduate students with an interest in Asian or Asian diaspora studies to submit proposals for organized panels, individual papers, roundtable discussions, workshops, poster presentations, or visual displays on historical or contemporary topics in the humanities, arts, social sciences, education, health, law, business, environmental sciences or other allied disciplines related to East, South, or Southeast Asia and their diasporas. We especially welcome proposals on topics that connect theory, method, or practice to contemporary or historical questions that reflect innovation or demonstrate a new way of examining a given topic.

When to Apply

The application deadline is January 31, 2019. For applications received by the regular submission deadline, notification of acceptance will be sent by March 1, 2019.

If you are hoping to attend the conference from overseas and may need a visa, please contact E. Elena Songster at AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You can contact us before your conference submission is complete so as not to delay this step. We want to know as soon as possible who you are so that we can determine what kind of visa you may need and what is required for it.

Last year we had many participants from several countries in Asia and Latin America as well as Canada and welcome your participation.

Panel Submission & Individual Papers

Panel submissions are strongly encouraged. It helps our organization tremendously for panels to be already formed. If you do not have a complete panel, but DO have a couple of people and are looking for specific ways to complete your panel (discussant, another presenter, etc.) submit to the Individual Papers form and indicate that in the specific section in that form. Note: panels do not have to have discussants at this conference, but they are welcome.
