Description: 

Commencement Mass, Friday, May 25th, 2018, 5:00pm

The Commencement Mass is celebrated each year on the day preceding the Undergraduate Commencement.  Students of all faiths as well as their families and friends are cordially invited to participate in this celebration of the Mass.  It is a time for giving thanks and praise for gifts given and received while at Saint Mary’s College, and for asking a blessing on the graduates and their future lives.  More information on the Commencement Mass (including information on volunteering at the Mass) can be found here.

 

The Commencement Mass for Academic Year 2017-2018 will take place at 5:00pm on Friday, May 25th, 2018 at the Joseph Alioto Recreation Center.

Graduates are invited to actively participate in this special liturgy.  Below is more information on how to get involved.  Please contact our campus chaplain, Fr. Hai Ho,OFMCap at hmh3@stmarys-ca.edu if you have any questions.

How to participate or volunteer:

Any graduate who would like to be a liturgical minister (e.g. read scripture or another speaking role, either in English or another language, be a Eucharistic Minister, carry a banner, bring up the gifts of bread and wine, help set the altar, sing in the choir/play an instrument) or take another active role at this special Mass should contact Fr. Hai Ho, OFMCap at hmh3@stmarys-ca.edu .

Any current student, faculty, or staff who would like to assist at the Commencement Mass as an usher or any other liturgical minister should also contact Fr. Hai by May 8th.

*Please note: All liturgical ministers will be required to come to a practice at Joseph Alioto Recreation Center on Thursday, May 24th (time TBA), or immediately following the Commencement Ceremony rehearsal on Friday, May 25th.  

**Student assistants who help out at the Mass will be expected to work at the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 26th in return for the privilege of staying overnight in the residence hall that weekend.
