Bayardo Martinez, MFA in Dance Student, Serves on Maryland Dance Education Association Board.

Current MFA in Dance Student, Bayardo Martinez, is now serving on Maryland's Dance Education Association Board as Advocacy Representative.

Bayardo Martinez, graduating Summer 2022 with an MFA in Creative Practice, has taken up a position serving on the board of directors(Member at Large) as the Advocacy Representative for the Maryland Dance Education Association (MDEA). 

The mission of MDEA is to serve dance educators and student members from dance institutions, agencies, studios, schools and more, by elevating dance in the State of Maryland.

MDEA is affiliated with NDEO, the National Dance Educational Organization, which works nationally to advance dance education. 

Bayardo's duties consist of working with the President-elect and General Board to provide resources for dance educators and students.

As advocacy representative, Bayardo explains his work and goals: " I am leading an advocacy committee for dance education awareness and programs. I will be implementing and promoting dance and social justice, as a new aspect in the advocacy for dance education.  I am incorporating in dance and social justice studies, which I cultivated from the MFA dance program at Saint Mary's."
