On Friday, July 28, join thousands of teachers from across California for a FREE day of learning featuring TED-style EdTalks presented by a local teacher and Edcamp discussions led by teachers, for teachers. You will walk away with access to the latest strategies and tools you can bring back to your classroom,and connect to a lasting and powerful network of peers.

Speaker Bios:

Jocel Ibañez-Lazarito headshotJocel Ibañez-Lazarito is an educator specializing in Autism, behavior management, and structured teaching. She graduated with honors from St. Mary’s College’s Master of Arts in Teaching Leadership Program, prior to working as the Program Specialist for the San Mateo County Office of Education. She has taught students with special needs for 15 years and was nominated Teacher of the Year in 2010. A resource speaker in special education, mentor and coach to colleagues and to parents of individuals with disabilities, and voice to the special needs population on social media, Jocel is a proponent of research-based, inclusive practices in education.

Karl Meyer headshotKarl Meyer is a junior high teacher and a father of two school age children.  For the last 14 years he has taught 6th through 8th grade English and AVID in Pittsburg, CA.  Teaching students with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, Karl maintains high expectations and works closely with students who frequently need extra support to reach their goals.  Currently, Karl is researching parent involvement as a means to increase student achievement, specifically exploring how to increase the school involvement of fathers.  As a teacher and a parent, he focuses on building strong school and family partnerships that support student learning.
