Brenda Hillman Wins Canada's Griffin International Poetry Prize

Brenda HillmanSaint Mary's English Professor Brenda Hillman has won Canada's prestigious Griffin International Poetry Prize. Established in 2000 by the Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry, the annual honor, which is the world’s largest prize for a first edition single collection of poetry written in English, recognizes a living poet residing in Canada and an international prize is given to a living poet from any country in the world.

Hillman, the Olivia C. Filippi Professor of Poetry and the director of the College's MFA Program in Creative Writing, took home the international prize for her book of poetry "Seasonal Works with Letters on Fire."
