Note: Brother Dominic Berardelli is no longer Director of Parent Relations.
Brother Dominic Berardelli, FSC, returned to Saint Mary's College this summer as the new director of Parent Relations. Brother Dominic works with the Office of Alumni Relations overseeing parent orientation and the parent advisory council.
"We are happy to have Brother Dominic return to Saint Mary's to be a resource and point of contact for such an important constituency as the parents of our students," says Brother Stanislaus Sobczyk, FSC, interim vice president for advancement.
A native of Pittsburgh, Brother Dominic earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from La Salle University in Philadelphia. He has worked in education in the United States and abroad, and in elementary, secondary and higher education. He was a teacher and a school principal in the Philippines for 10 years. Brother Dom also taught at La Salle High School, in Pasadena, and was superintendent of schools for the Diocese of Orange. He also has served as co-director of mission at the Brothers' headquarters in Italy.
In 1995, Brother Dom came to Saint Mary's as special assistant to the president. He also taught a Jan Term course, with Brother Michael Avila, FSC, called Christian Service Internship, bringing students to sites in the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, and elsewhere to directly serve poor people.
Prior to taking his post in Parent Relations, Brother Dominic worked at De La Salle North Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon, where he was responsible for school and community relations. He was well known for greeting students at the door as they arrived for school each day.
