Calif. Emerges as Battleground for Pension Changes
Saint Mary's College professor James Hawley was quoted in a national story by Reuters about California emerging as a key battleground state on the issue of pension reform, with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger advancing proposals to overhaul public retirement systems. Public employee unions have vowed to defeat Schwarzenegger's proposal.
"They see this as a bread and butter issue," said Hawley, co-director of the Center for the Study of Fiduciary Capitalism at Saint Mary's College of California.
