Campaign Update - February 2019

Over the past six months, Defining the Future: The Campaign for Saint Mary’s has secured more than $10 million, bringing the Campaign total to $115 million toward its $125 million goal.

This generous support has been made possible thanks to significant philanthropic investments. Here are a few highlights from the year thus far:

Saint Mary’s received a $2 million gift for the future Library & Innovation Center. This gift was made possible thanks to the parent of a recent Saint Mary’s graduate who continues to invest in this campus priority. This generous gift is being leveraged to encourage other investors to make commitments to this facility as well.

The Kalmanovitz Charitable Foundation made two generous donations this fall. The Foundation committed $960,000 for a new scholarship—the Kalmanovitz Scholars Program—for first- generation, low-income students for each of their four years at Saint Mary’s. The Foundation also pledged $3 million to the Student Athlete Performance Complex. Athletes and fans are already experiencing the first phase of the McKeon Pavilion renovation, with work on the second phase to begin later this spring.

The Christian Brothers have also made gifts to Saint Mary’s. Most recently, Brother Camillus Chavez, FSC, ’51 gifted $50,000 to establish the Cruz Lastra Chavez Our Lady of Guadalupe Endowed Scholarship Fund to benefit students with financial need.

The Saint Mary’s community at large jumped in on Giving Tuesday in November to raise $302,000, with $93,000 of that provided by a generous 1:1 matching gift.

To date, more than 25,000 donors have contributed to the Campaign to support student scholarships, invest in academic excellence, strengthen the Lasallian Catholic mission, and fund college operations.
