Campus Parking Updates

by Parking Permits and Lyft Ride Program Information | September 17, 2021

Dear Students, Staff and Faculty,

We hope that your return to campus has been enjoyable. The Parking Department wanted to provide the following updates on campus parking:

QUICK REMINDERS

  • The Saint Mary's Lyft ride credits program will be starting in a few days.  Please keep an eye out for a message from Lyft that will be sent to your Saint Mary's email account. The email will describe the Lyft program and how to utilize the service.
  • If you plan to park on campus, you will need to purchase a 2021-22 parking permit. Please see the Parking and Transportation website,  where you will find specific information on rates for parking permits for both employees and students.
  •  Adjunct faculty will need to purchase their permits through the Business Office. Information on Adjunct faculty permits can be found in the email attachment below.
  • Commuters and visitors are reminded that daily permits can be purchased at self-service machines located in commuter and visitor parking lots.  Commuters are always strongly encouraged to arrive early to find available parking spaces.

MORE ON PARKING PERMITS

The Saint Mary's Parking Department has experienced a high volume of requests for campus parking permits over the last several weeks.  Unfortunately, we have also experienced technical difficulties with the online parking permit portal, resulting in some Saint Mary's community members not being able to easily register for permits.  We regret this problem has caused inconvenience to members of our community.  Saint Mary's uses a third party vendor to process parking permits.  We are conferring regularly with the vendor to ensure the problem is resolved.  If you are experiencing difficulty with the permit registration process, please email Parking Manager Lila Leath at lml2@stmarys-ca.edu

In recognition of this problem, Campus Safety has extended its grace period for permit enforcement to September 24, 2021.  Campus Safety will issue courtesy notices to vehicles that are parked on campus without visible parking permits. Please note that vehicles in violation of other campus parking rules (e.g., improper parking in fire lanes, disabled parking spaces, designated/restricted parking spaces, or EV parking spaces) will be cited.

Kind regards,

The Parking Department
