College Communications Needs You: Be An Expert Source For The Media
The Office of College Communications at Saint Mary's works with members of the media to connect them with distinguished faculty at SMC who can serve as expert sources and provide insightful commentary on a variety of topics, including K-12 and higher education, the global economy, science-related matters, domestic and foreign policy, Catholic and faith-related issues, current events and breaking news.
College Communications is expanding SMC's Faculty Experts roster through media training workshops over the academic year. The office has scheduled faculty media training sessions for Thursday, October 7 (space no longer available) and Friday, October 8 from 12:30 to 4p.m. in the Orinda Room in the Soda Center. The three and a half hour workshops are designed for six participants per session and will include lunch.
Through the program, faculty members will learn how to confidently interact with journalists from a variety of media outlets (print, broadcast and online), what steps to take when a reporter calls, how to take control of an interview session, how to develop core messages and how to ensure their messages are effectively conveyed to a reporter.
To sign up for media training contact Mike McAlpin or Geni Federas in College Communications.
