Counseling Department Receives 2020 WACES Innovative Counselor Education Program Award

The Kalmanovitz School of Education is proud to announce that the Counseling Department has been recognized by the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES, a division of the American Counseling Association) with the 2020 WACES Innovative Counselor Education Program.

The department was honored specifically for their demonstrated commitment to social justice and advocacy, their emphasis on holistic wellness; the dedication and individual attention offered by faculty and staff; their unique and highly successful approach to teaching counseling skills; the delivery of a transformative, student-centered experience grounded in counseling theory; and our outstanding reputation in the field.

The long history of leadership and previous recognition in WACES by several Counseling Department faculty members was also noted. Dr. Suzy Thomas was proud to have accepted the award on behalf of the Counseling Department due to her long-term involvement in WACES.
