COVID 19 Remembrance Memorial & Prayer Service

The Mission & Ministry Center offers this opportunity to honor all of the loved ones that we have lost to COVID 19 this past year.

Throughout the day on March 16, a candle memorial will be set up on the Chapel Plaza. All members of the SMC family are invited to let us know the names of their lost loved ones, and each name will be included on a candle in the memorial. You can submit names in advance, or you can come by (if you are cleared to come to campus) throughout the day on March 16 to have your loved one's name written on a candle.

We will end the day with the bell ringing and viewing of the candles at 6:15pm followed by a prayer/remembrance service at 6:30pm. Those cleared to be on campus can attend in person (masks required, and please maintain a distance of 6 feet from others).  Additionally, the evening's events will be live-streamed and recorded on Instagram, @stmarysca.

Visit the Mission and Ministry Center website where you will find the form to submit your loved ones' names and more information.  We are grateful for the collaboration on this offering with the Committee for Interfaith and Religious Cooperation for Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE), and the partnership with Professor Soine's HIST 181: Public History class.

If you have any interest in assisting or participating in this day (beyond submitting names for the memorial), please reach out to Carrie Davis (cak6) or Karin McClelland (klm14).
