COVID-19 Update: Get Boosted, Wear a Mask to Keep SMC Safe

Last week, Contra Costa County lifted its mask mandate for most indoor settings. Based on that adjustment, Saint Mary’s updated its own masking guidance to require masks in classroom settings and the library. Masks remain stro CCHS Maskingngly recommended for vaccinated individuals in all other on-campus settings, and are still required for non-vaccinated individuals.

Even with the loosening of restrictions, we want to remind everyone that getting vaccinated and wearing a well-fitting mask remain the best ways to protect yourself and the Saint Mary’s community. Contra Costa County provides a helpful masking graphic, and N95 masks are available to students upon request through the Health & Wellness Center and to staff and faculty through the Facilities office.

Saint Mary’s also continues to strongly recommend booster shots for all eligible individuals. To schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment or booster shot, visit the state’s MyTurn app or website. You may also schedule an appointment through Contra Costa Health Services by visiting its online portal or calling 1-833-829-2626. Local pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens also offer booster shot appointments. Remember, getting a booster shot is the only way to avoid automatically going into isolation due to having a close contact to COVID-19.

If you test positive for COVID-19 and test out of isolation after day five, you are required to wear a mask in all settings for the remainder of the 10-day period following your positive test.

Finally, if you are an employee and have questions or would like to hear the latest news on COVID-19, consider joining the next COVID employee briefing on Thursday, March 3 at 2 p.m. Register Here to attend.

Get boosted, wear a mask, and help keep our Saint Mary’s community safe!
