COVID-19 Update: Masks Remain Required in Classroom Settings, Library

With just a few weeks left in the spring semester, we want to remind the campus community that in an effort to keep our community as safe as possible in required classroom settings, protect at-risk members of our campus, and do all we can to ensure continued in-person instruction and activities through the remainder of the semester, Saint Mary’s continues to require masking in all classroom settings and the library until further notice. Wearing a mask also remains strongly recommended in all other on-campus settings.

  • Proactive testing and masking remain the most effective tools to stay as safe as possible from COVID-19. Students can stop by the library during normal hours of operation to pick up a test kit or new mask. Faculty and staff can also pick up test kits through Human Resources (Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. with current SMC ID).
  • Students can continue to pick up masks through the library as well as the Health & Wellness Center. Faculty and staff can also pick up masks through Academic Affairs.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, remember to log it in the reporting portal. Doing so will help to keep others in our community safe. And, be sure to review and follow the isolation period guidelines put forward by Contra Costa Health Services.
  • Staff or faculty who test positive must also report a positive test to the reporting portal. Doing so ensures that Human Resources can do contact tracing and be in touch about COVID-related sick leave.
  • Finally, if you come into close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, CCHS provides updated guidance for what to do next.

Thank you for your continued collaboration as we all work to finish the semester safe and strong!
