Danville: O'Neill Festival celebrates Nobel Prize-winning playwright's genius
Dan Cawthon, chairman of the theater department at Saint Mary's College, and his expertise in the works of playwright Eugene O'Neill were the focus of feature stories in the San Francisco Chronicle and the Contra Costa Times.
"I did my doctoral dissertation on O'Neill's plays and have been reading his works and thinking about him for 35 years," Cawthon told the Chronicle. "It's a lifetime of breathing his air."
A seminar on O'Neill led by Cawthon on Sept. 25 was part of the fifth Eugene O'Neill Festival that took place at various venues in Danville, where the playwright once lived.
