Duties of Officers
Described below are the duties for each officer.
The President shall function as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association; call and preside over meetings of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and general membership; appoint with the concurrence of the Executive Committee representatives to other groups, committees and organizations, as needed; form committees, as needed; direct and conduct business on behalf of the Association as the Chief Executive Officer; and serve as the official representative of the Alumni Association to the college community.
The President-Elect is second ranking officer in the Association and immediate successor to the President in the event the President is unable to serve. The President-Elect shall chair meetings in the absence of the President; support and assist the President as directed by the President; plan programs and activities to be conducted during their term as President; oversee Alumni Board fundraising programs as appropriate; and perform other duties as prescribed by the President.
Three Vice Presidents to be elected at large. All are of equal rank but subordinate in rank to the President-Elect. Upon election to office, the President will appoint a Vice President to each of the following specific duties for their term of office:
- Membership: In conjunction with the Alumni Office, responsible for the recruitment and renewal of Board members; recommend new membership goals; organize committees and plan for member-related activities, as needed; report to the Board regarding membership issues; assist the President with agendas and attendance at Board meetings; responsible for taking minutes at Board and Executive meetings; work with the President for distribution of minutes, within 21 working days of meetings; and perform other duties as prescribed by the President.
- Chapters: In conjunction with the Alumni Office, organize, plan and direct the efforts of the Association to create and sustain academic, geographic, and constituent specific alumni chapters; attend or arrange for Board representation at chapter events; develop and monitor chapter goals, and progress and reports same to the Board; and perform other duties as prescribed by the President.
- Programs and Activities: In conjunction with the Alumni Office, organize, plan direct and attend educational, social and recreational events and activities for the benefit of all Alumni; develop an annual schedule of events and programs; produce financial summaries for events and activities, including attendance, budget projections, and actual income/expenses of events and activities; prepare other financial summaries as requested by the President and/or Board; and perform other duties as prescribed by the President.
