Elaine McKeon, SMC Donor, Former Trustee and Regent Passes Away

Elaine McKeon, a longstanding supporter of Saint Mary’s, former regent and trustee chairperson died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 after a fall in her home. She was 86-years-old. 

Mrs. McKeon and her husband, and former trustee, George R. McKeon generously provided financial assistance to the College over many years. The McKeon Pavilion —which opened in 1978, and is the home of the SMC Gaels — was funded by the McKeons. 

Elaine McKeon served on SMC’s Board of Trustees from 1980 to 1990 and as Chair of the Board from 1983 to 1985. She also served as a member of the College's New Century Committee in 1996. She was also a longtime supporter of the arts in San Francisco and served as Chairman of the Board of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) from 1995 to 2004.  A San Francisco Chronicle news obituary reported on the loss of Mrs. McKeon.
