Weekend of Welcome

The faculty, staff and students of Saint Mary's are excited to welcome the newest class of Gaels!

Weekend of Welcome, required for all first year students, is designed to help students transition to their new life at Saint Mary's.  By participating in the events throughout the weekend, students gain an understanding of academic requirements, meet their faculty advisor, and connect with other first year students.  The schedule for 2022 is still being developed and will be finalized mid-August.  Encourage your student to check back often for updates to the weekend!

Weekend of Welcome Schedule of Events

What happens on move-in day?

Once you arrive on campus, Housing staff will direct your vehicle to the Check-In area in the parking lot at Brother Urban Gregory Hall.  (If coming in separate vehicles, you will be asked to wait until the student arrives so you can proceed to the Check-in area together.  Parents and/or guests cannot check-in for the student.)

At the Check-In area, students will be required to show a photo ID.  They will receive their Check-In Packet which includes residence hall keys and informational brochures.  Please note that Check-In Packets will contain very important information for the student and should remain on campus with them.

After Check-In, you will be directed to drive to the assigned residence hall where a team of student leaders will assist in unloading the vehicle and escorting the student to the assigned room.  The driver will be asked to move the vehicle once it is unloaded.

What time can we come to campus?

Students with last names beginning with A-L check-in 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.; last names beginning with M-Z check-in 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

We moved in...now what?

Students, parents, family members, and guests, regardless of faith, are invited to attend the Welcome Liturgy at 4:30 p.m.  All are then invited to the Farewell BBQ on Chapel Lawn.  Students meet their Weekend of Welcome Leader at 7:00 p.m.; parents, family members, and guests are encouraged to depart campus at that time.
