Former SMC President Resigns Current Post Following Investigation

Brother Craig Franz resigned as president of Saint Mary's University of Minnesota after an investigation concluded that he had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with an adult student in 2004. The news was reported in the Contra Costa Times and other MediaNews Group newspapers as well as in the Minneapolis Star Tribune and by the Associated Press.

The news coverage quoted a letter by Saint Mary's College of California President Ronald Gallagher that said Brother Craig "engaged in behavior totally inappropriate for a Christian Brother and college president and inconsistent with our values and traditions."
