From the Editor
In this issue you'll find the College's 2005 Annual Report and Honor Roll of Donors. Ordinarily published and distributed on a limited scale to donors and selected others, it recognizes alumni, faculty, staff, students, and others who donated to Saint Mary's College during fiscal year 2004-05. It offers insights from institutional leaders on near- and long-term strategic issues and opportunities for the College, and highlights how donors' generosity has made a difference in the lives of students and others.
The report is published here for several reasons. It enables the College to express its appreciation to its many donors to a far wider audience. It affords to all readers the opportunity to hear directly from College leaders. It provides an opportunity for the College to reach out to its many alumni and friends at a time when their support is critical to achieving our Catholic, Lasallian, and liberal arts mission. There is perhaps no better way to illustrate the vitality of Saint Mary's than by acknowledging individually the names of the College's many faithful friends and benefactors.
This issue also includes a story by new staff writer Erin Hallissy on artistic expressions of Mary; reports on the latest marsupial "find" by science professor Judd Case and recognition for several Saint Mary's math and science students; tributes to retired professor Joseph Lanigan and longtime staffers John Leykam and the late Mike Ferrigno '66; comments from Alumni Board President Michael Boele '72 and Parent Relations Director Brother Dominic Berardelli, FSC; and plenty of Gael Glimpses.
