December 5, 2009- The Gaels traveled to treasure island to face the Golden Gate Men's rugby club, the reigning super league champions on Saturday.

To start off the day, the Saint Mary's 3rd side faced a tough Golden Gate 2nd side. Unfortunately the Gaels lost the match.

Next, the Gael’s 1st team took on the Golden Gate 1st side. The first half was a dog fight and scoreless until SMC was able to sneak a try by the determined Golden Gate defense. Golden Gate would answer back with a score of their own right before the half. The score at halftime was 7-5. The Gaels then came out strong and scored to start the second half. Golden Gate would not go down so easy as they put in a score of their own. The final score was in favor of Saint Mary's 35- 22. To wrap up the day the Saint Mary's 2 side came out very strong to Beat a driven Humboldt State team.
