Graduate Business Welcomes 115 New Gaels!
On Saturday, October 1st, 2011, Saint Mary’s College School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA) welcomed 115 new students to the Gael family at the all-day orientation. Faculty and staff warmly received the newest cohorts of Executive MBA (Moraga Weeknight, Moraga Saturday, Santa Clara), Trans-Global Executive MBA, and Professional MBA students.
The day started off with introductions from Associate Dean of Graduate Business, Professor Guido Krickx; Associate Dean, Global Executive Development and Research Programs (SEBA), Professor Shyam Kamath; Assistant Director of Lasallian Formation from the Office of Mission and Ministry, Denis Block; and Associate Director of Financial Aid, Daryl Williams. Professor Linda Herkenhoff then got everyone on their feet for a speed networking session which energized the entire Soda Center with a loud buzz of dynamic individual conversations. More team-building (involving yo-yo's and strategizing) followed lunch, and a campus tour was given to the 115 newest Gaels, topped by a trip to the bookstore.
Some highlights from participants after the event:
- “By the end of the orientation, I was extremely excited to start the program. Definitely a wonderful way to get ready for class. Thank you!”
- "I found all staff to be extremely welcoming and personable. I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted so warmly, and by name. But that was one of the things that set Saint Mary's apart - you do not treat people like a 'number.' Wonderful orientation program.”
- “Great orientation, it was very helpful in providing the information I need to begin the program. It was fun and interactive without the cheesiness of most orientations (ice-breakers, etc.) I was really excited about meeting new people and having lunch with future classmates. It was a very great overall experience.”
