Graduate Student Reading Series

Date & Time:
Monday, March 1, 2021 - 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Join us for an evening of incredible readings from our 2021 MFA candidates. Readers include Mikaela Dunitz (Creative Nonfiction), Jenyth Gearhart-Utchen (Poetry), Nick Golden (Fiction), Jacqueline Hughes Simon (Poetry).

Mikaela Dunitz is a writer and teacher living in Berkeley, CA. She is currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Nonfiction at Saint Mary’s College. Mikaela writes about fractures in families and the often fraught mosaic of female sexuality.

Jenyth serves as the Poet Laureate of San Ramon, and her poetic work includes traditional and experimental forms for multiple voices and occasions. A multi-genre writer and teacher, she recently completed a memoir about the first class of recruited female athletes at Stanford.  Volleyball is her life metaphor.

Self-proclaimed (and frequently mentioned) nerd - Nick loves books, movies, sports, history, being weird, and poor timing with laughs. Some authors he likes are Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, and J. R. R. Tolkien – just some underground authors. He lives in Oakland and works for a NPO in Alameda.

Jacqueline Hughes Simon lives, works, and writes in Berkeley, California. But she would rather be in the mountains.
