Travel Health

Please schedule an appointment to complete your travel health requirements for Study Abroad or Jan Term travel.

The Saint Mary’s College Health Center can help you prepare for your Study Abroad and Jan Term travel by administering required immunizations and completing your Travel Health Form.

Also, we will review ways to stay healthy abroad including: preventing insect and animal bites, being careful about food and water, and avoiding injuries.

Travel Appointments for Study Abroad or Jan Term Travel:

You must come into the HC to schedule an appointment for Travel Health visits. There is a visit fee of $25, due at the time of scheduling an appointment.

We recommend that you have your Travel Health Form completed by your Primary Healthcare Provider if you live in the local area. However, if you are from out of the area, or unable to schedule an appointment with your Primary Provider, please come to the H&WC to schedule a travel visit.

Preparing for Your Appointment

1. You must come into the HC to schedule an appointment for Travel Health visits (for Study Abroad or Jan Term travel).

**We will not be accepting travel health appointments over the phone.

2, What to bring when you schedule an appointment:

  • The Travel Health Form, with page 1 completed.
  • Bring your immunization record and/or your International Certificate of Vaccination (the "yellow card") with you. Having a complete immunization record can help reduce the expense of unnecessary immunizations.*
  • Debit or credit card for $25 fee

*We do keep immunization records (that you sumbitted on starting at SMC) on file, but if you have had any updated vaccines, bringing the records will help determine if you need any other vaccines.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

Due to the resources needed, and limited availability, for travel visits, there is a $25 charge for all Study Abroad and Jan Term appointments.

We require that you schedule an appointment for the travel clinic. There is a $25 no-show charge for patients who cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or who do not show up for their scheduled appointment.

Outside Travel Clinics

The Health Center offers most immunizations needed for travel. However, we do not offer Yellow Fever,  or Japanese Encephailitis. If either of these immunizations are required for your travel destination, you must complete these prior to your Health Center appointment.

The HC also does not offer the Polio vaccine and a complete series is required for all travel destinations.

Please see the links below for more information regarding local travel clinics, as well as a price comparion. We recommend that you call the local clinic for the most up to date pricing.

More information regarding immunization requirements can be found at the Center for Disease Control website.
