Improvements Through the Summer
Dear Saint Mary's College Community,
Following the recent graduations, we have embarked on a number of projects to improve and enhance our facilities. At its May 25 meeting, the Board of Trustees approved funding plans for improvements to residence halls, the dining spaces in Oliver and Dryden halls, student activities areas, and other campus buildings. Under the guidance of Vice President Pete Michell, a website is being prepared for the community to track the many changes and improvements which are taking place over the summer. He will let you know when it is ready. Thanks for your patience as we make these improvements through the summer and continuing into the fall.
A number of faculty, staff and student formation activities are also taking place this summer, some on campus and some elsewhere. The Buttimer Institute of Lasallian studies will have a two-week session on campus beginning on June 25. The Cummins Institute sponsored Theologian Rosemary Haughton for a well-attended, three-day session last week. In July we will host the Lasallian Youth Leadership workshop as well as the Lasallian Leadership Institute. And in Rome, during this week and last, a number of faculty have participated in the inaugural Lasallian Higher Education Formation workshop. I will be speaking to this group later this week and will return to the College in early July.
I wish to thank all who sent notes or cards regarding my mother's passing. I and my family were deeply moved by your expressions of condolence.
I wish each of you and invigorating and relaxing summer.
In St. La Salle,
Brother Ronald Gallagher
