Desiree Anderson

Desirée Anderson was born in San Diego, California. The child of Naval personal she had the pleasure of living abroad in Belgium until she graduated high school. Desiree returned to the United States to live in Louisville, Kentucky where she completed both her Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Louisville.  Before coming to serve as the Director of the Intercultural Center at Saint Mary’s College of California she served as the Associate Director of Multicultural Affairs at Tulane University in New Orleans for six years and before that she served as an Area Residence Director at Texas State University. She recently earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans studying The Use of Campus-Based Restorative Justice Practices to Address Incidents of Bias: Facilitators’ Experiences. Desirée is currently working on a book chapter called Co-opting Restorative Justice in Higher Education. In her free time, she enjoys reading, singing, dancing, and watching an unnecessary amount of TV, especially ESPN.

Legacy previously served as the Academic & Leadership Coordinator in Residential & Student Services Programs at UC Berkeley.  Holding two M.A. degrees in African-American Studies and American Studies from Boston University, Legacy is passionate about helping students dissect identity, power and privilege in their own lives, as well as society at large. He enjoys facilitating dialogues on the intersections of social identities as well as building ally-ship one relationship at a time.  As the Assistant Director of the Intercultural Center (IC), Legacy is responsible for supervising the Intercultural Development (ID) Leaders, trained student leaders who facilitate intergroup dialogues in the first year residence halls on identity development and also campus workshops on hot button issues.  Legacy has enjoyed his return to Saint Mary’s, where he began his higher education career in the office of Student Involvement & Leadership.  Currently he lives in San Leandro with his partner Lauren (an ‘08 SMC alum), their daughter Kamari, son Zavien and two kittens Copper & Coral.  In his precious free time he enjoys watching basketball (Go Warriors and Bruins) creative writing, movies, cooking, gardening and camping.

Leslie was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Deciding to stay close to home, Leslie attended Saint Mary's College of California and graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration: Digital Media/minor in Dance in 2016. During her undergraduate studies she also had the opportunity to work as an Intercultural Developent Leader from 2014-2015 and a Student Leader Intiating Diversity Education from 2015-2016. Leslie continued her studies at Saint Mary's and graduated with her Masters of Fine Arts in Dance: Design & Production in 2018. During her graduate studies, she had the opportunity to teach Ballet Folklorico (Mexican Folk Dance) and Dance Production for the undergraduate dance program. Leslie has also worked in multiple departments at Saint Mary's including the Performing Arts, the High Potential Program, Admissions, and now again at the Intercultural Center. As Coordinator of the Intercultural Center, Leslie oversees the Student Leaders Initiating Diversity Education (SLIDErs) that plan intercultural programs. She also oversees the cultural graduate celebrations. Leslie has a passion in Mexican Folk Dance and has recently joined a dance company, Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno, located in Oakland. During her free time she will most likely be dancing, binge watching tv shows on Netflix, or playing candy crush (currently on level 3073).
