A guide for trans* individuals and their allies to help navigate services and resources at SMC and beyond. Created by: Erika Chapman (2018, Psychology).
Erika Chapman created the Transgender Resource Guide for her Student Leaders in Community Engagement (SLICE) two-semester long class where students were paired with organizations to develop projects that meet a need in their community. Erika chose to create a Transgender Resource Guide for the Rainbow Community Center in Concord, CA because of the challenges transgender individuals have finding resources that everyone should be able to access. The guide, created through intensive research and collaboration with the community, provides access to information and multiple resources in one place. Erika hopes for the guide to be a long-lasting tool that will help improve the lives of transgender individuals.
Erika would like to give a shout out to her community partner, the Rainbow Community Center, and especially the transgender members of the center who provided her with invaluable information, as well as her professors Sarah Beth Dempsey and Caitlin Powell. Thank you to Hector Mendez for his continued editing and cataloguing efforts. Without these individuals the Transgender Resource Guide would not have been possible.
