Jacobin magazine features an essay on the 42,000 member International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), co-written by Saint Mary's Politics Professor Suzi Weissman. The article "Unions That Used to Strike" chronicles the story of the 80-year old union which has a a historical track record of activism, militancy and political radicalism, but now is at a crossroads.
