Jacqueline's Rec Sports Guide- Edition 002

Hey Gaels! My name is Jacqueline. As a junior here at SMC, I can understand the need we all have to keep active in fun ways outside of our studies. Ever since I can remember, I've been outside participating in sports, which has become incorporated into my college life as well. As a Kinesiology major, I know the basics of how to keep a fit and healthy lifestyle, and as someone who loves to be social I am always looking for a way to incorporate as many people into this fun lifestyle! Since simply going to the gym can start to get boring, I'm here to help you all brainstorm different ways to be active on campus and have a great time while you're doing it. With my Rec Sports Guide to a Fit and Fun College Experience, I can help you blow off some steam from all the stressors of college life and stay healthy and fit throughout the year. Check out my blog weekly for all the new opportunities our school gives us, and try to spot me at the events. Stick with me; I'll take you places!

As it turns out, this hot weather seems to have been rather short lived. With all this cold weather and rain, I know I have to fight the urge to curl up with a blanket and watch movies all day. Instead, I’m going to try to get active this week and make the best of my time! While it may not be summer weather anymore, any weather is good weather for activities. To ease into the cold weather, Rec Sports is hosting S’Mores Night this Tuesday, October 23 on the De La Salle lawn from 7-9pm. If you’re feeling the chill, head over and gather around the fire and make everyone’s favorite camping snack! To get your blood pumping, Rec Sports is hosting a Trail Run at 4pm this Wednesday. Meet at the Flag Pole at 4pm ready to get your jog on! As well as running there is Indoor Rock Climbing on Friday the 26th. Everyone is to meet at the Flag Pole at 4pm with $5, and travel over to the Diablo Rock Gym. What better way to stir up some friendly competition than with a rock-climbing race? Test your skills and get active this week to make sure you aren’t bundled up from the cold! And as always, we have the same weekly events hosted for the morning workouts, indoor hoops and soccer.

To keep your temperature up this week make sure to get out there and do something active! Make sure your body stays healthy to fight off all those winter colds we hate to get. Now that midterms are mostly over, we have the opportunity to do something fun with our spare time. I hope to see you at one of these events this week!
