Jacqueline's Rec Sports Guide- Edition 004

Hey Gaels! My name is Jacqueline. As a junior here at SMC, I can understand the need we all have to keep active in fun ways outside of our studies. Ever since I can remember, I've been outside participating in sports, which has become incorporated into my college life as well. As a Kinesiology major, I know the basics of how to keep a fit and healthy lifestyle, and as someone who loves to be social I am always looking for a way to incorporate as many people into this fun lifestyle! Since simply going to the gym can start to get boring, I'm here to help you all brainstorm different ways to be active on campus and have a great time while you're doing it. With my Rec Sports Guide to a Fit and Fun College Experience, I can help you blow off some steam from all the stressors of college life and stay healthy and fit throughout the year. Check out my blog weekly for all the new opportunities our school gives us, and try to spot me at the events. Stick with me; I'll take you places!

November is finally here! This means a change in the leaves from green, to yellow, to red, a cool down in the weather, autumn scents, and Thanksgiving of course! In only a few short weeks we will be on our Thanksgiving break, some time off which I am sure most of us need. When it comes to Thanksgiving one thing is on all our minds- FOOD. From the turkey, to the mashed potatoes, to the pumpkin pie, I know we will all be spending time around the table with our families while eating everything in sight. In order to earn these inevitable food comas, starting Rec Sports activities this week is necessary! Come check out everything going on this week to earn your double helping of pie in a few weeks!

New to the Rec Sports fitness classes’ track is Zumba at 7:30pm on Wednesdays in Sichel 102. Along with Zumba, Stretching classes are new on the Rec Sports scene also! Stretching classes are at 8pm in Sichel 102 also. Stop by Wednesday night for both if you’re feeling especially active. As usual, the same Madigan activities are going on this week. Stop by Madigan for some hoops and indoor soccer. With this wonderful California weather we’ve been having, if you can’t make any of these activities, at least try to get outdoors and do something fun!

As usual, I hope everyone is out there getting active with some kind of athletic activity. It’s always a great way to get rid of the stress from all our classes. But if any of these activities aren’t really your thing, I hope some of you will be out there cheering on our Gaels at the Women’s Soccer Club game this Saturday! They are playing Chico State on the SMC turf field. Kick off is a 6pm. I hope to see some of you out there cheering them on! We all should get a jumpstart on some sort of physical activity before Thanksgiving rolls around. With all the beautiful trees out here in Moraga, it’ll always be a nice time participating in some sort of activity outdoors! Happy November everyone!
