Education Specialist Concentration (SPED)

JCL’s Mild-to-Moderate Education Specialist Preliminary Credential concentration thoroughly prepares you to teach students with exceptional needs.

If you have a calling for teaching children with disabilities, this program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful and rewarding career teaching students with:

  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Specific learning disabilities
  • Emotional disturbances
  • Mild-to-moderate intellectual disabilities
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Other health impairments (including ADD and ADHD)

  • Strong balance of theory to practice

  • Every student assigned an academic advisor
  • Admission to the credential program in fall of the student’s Sophomore year
