Learning Outcomes

What's in it for you?

With a credential in Montessori Education from the KSOE, you will be qualified to teach in public and private Montessori schools in California and the United States, as well as around the world. All courses fully incorporate the theory and practice of the Montessori Method. So we’ve got you covered!

 

You have the option to earn a credential at two levels of specialization:

  • Early Childhood (children from 3 through 6 years old)
  • Elementary Education (children from 6 through 12 years old)

 

After completing either credential program, you will be able to:

  • Apply the Montessori philosophy and human-development principles in your professional practice as a teacher
  • Be proficient in the subject matter for each course level completed, including but not limited to the following areas of focus:

      

      Language and reading arts

      Mathematics

      Science

      Cosmic education

      Peace education

      Practical life

      The arts

      Fine and gross motor skills

 

  • Explore community resources for learning and for supporting students and families in parent/teacher/ family/community partnership
  • Be proficient in the planning, use, and demonstration of the Montessori materials, considering culturally responsive methods, the scope and sequence of the spiral curriculum, and the importance of the prepared environment
  • Understand the essential use and purpose of assessment, documentation, support, and intervention for learning differences and the importance of maintaining a reflective practice
  • Have a working understanding of classroom leadership skills, including mindfulness and non-violent communications
