Loan forgiveness: another form of financial aid.
  • Stafford Loan Forgiveness Program for Teachers is intended to encourage individuals to enter and remain in the teaching profession. Under this program, you may receive up to $17,500 if you teach five consecutive academic years in schools or educational service agencies that serve low-income families, and if you meet other requirements.

 

 

  • National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment is loan forgiveness for primary care clinicians in exchange for working in underserved communities.   • Mental Health Loan Assumption Program can award up to $10,000 to repay educational loans in exchange for a 12-month service obligation in a hard-to-fill/retain position within the County PMHS. Counties determine which professions are eligible for their county's hard-to-fill/retain positions. Some of the eligible professions include, but are not limited to, the following: Registered/Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Registered/Licensed Psychologists, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Interns and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors.

 

  • APLE Loan Forgiveness Program is available to teaching credential candidates and provides for the cancellation of up to $19,000 in outstanding educational loans in exchange for four consecutive years of full-time teaching in K-12 in selected California schools. Applications are normally available at www.csac.ca.gov.
