Kelly Egan, MFA Poetry '16

Copywriter at Chegg

By becoming a better reader, I became a much better writer. In the MFA in Poetry program I was not only exposed to a diverse range of texts, I also learned creative ways of approaching even the most experimental ones. This reading stretched my writing and helped me uncover the more raw, authentic layers of my own voice and rhythm.

Kelly Egan’s poems have appeared in Colorado Review, Laurel Review, RHINO, Denver Quarterly, Maiden Magazine, and elsewhere. Kelly’s first poetry chapbook, A Series of Septembers, was released with Dancing Girl Press in Fall 2022. A second chapbook, Millennial, will be released with White Stag in 2023. She has participated in writing residencies in Iceland and the Peruvian Amazon. Say hello at
