Practicing Mindfulness in These Uncertain Times ~ A Six Week Online Course for MA in Leadership Graduates Taught by Ken Otter, Ph.D.

Six Mondays by Zoom 6:30 – 7:30pm* from April 20 – May 25, 2020

No Cost to MA in Leadership Alumni

We are all being asked to do something we are unaccustomed to do—to stay away from others, to stay home, to pay more attention to what we touch, and to adjust to changes in how we live and work and care for selves, our family and community. We do this so we do not spread the coronavirus and do our part as a global society.

Then there is concern of what kind of world will be waiting for us on the other side of this pandemic.  Many of us might be feeling a lot of anxiety, stress, and some real panic in this time of real uncertainty about our lifestyle, livelihood and leadership practice. Practicing mindfulness can help.

In this free six-week online mindfulness course you enhance you ability to attend to the feelings and minds states arising in this time and to bring more mindful and loving attention into our daily life, work, and relationships. In this way we are more able to bring forward the best of ourselves and act with more wisdom and compassion during this very uncertain and difficult time.

The course will be a mix of activities, mindfulness practice, short presentations on mindfulness, and time for questions and reflection.

Here is the schedule of topics:

  • Session 1: Introduction to Mindfulness and the Course
  • Session 2: Mindfulness of the Body
  • Session 3: Mindfulness of the Emotions
  • Session 4: Mindfulness of the Mind
  • Session 5: Mindfulness of Relating with Care and Compassion
  • Session 6: Incorporating Mindfulness in Work and Life

While the request is that you attend all six sessions, you can attend the first class to check it out before committing to the rest of the sessions.

*First class is from 6:30 – 8pm.
