Web Team Charge
Purpose: To maximize the capabilities of the web site to deliver Library resources, services, instruction, and information to the SMC community and beyond. To design and develop the Library’s web presence.
Includes: Everyone who is interested in the functionality, content, or appearance of the Library’s web pages.

With the technical expertise of Web Services, design and develop the Library’s web pages in order to deliver Library resources, services, instruction, and information to the SMC community and beyond.

Work in house or with a third party to design and develop the public interface to Albert, the Library’s online catalog

Using web technologies, develop ways to facilitate access to Library collections for all patrons.

Work with the College IT Services to assure compliance with ADA standards and guidelines.

Work with Reference and Instruction librarians to help make the website more intuitive to use for research, and to guide students to sources

Review and develop design guidelines for the Library web pages

Provide opportunities for Library staff to learn and do web work, and provide training and mentoring for new editors for the site

Provide for the continuing improvement of the Library’s Web site by establishing regular assessment of the effectiveness of the web site

Respond to assessment results so as to improve the quality of the web pages

Share information about the web team with all committee members and with the rest of the Library staff

Disseminate information about upcoming professional development opportunities, share information gained at professional workshops, conferences, etc.
