Mark DeLuna '87

87DeLunaMark retired from the United States Marine Corps after 25 years of commissioned service. Shortly after graduation from Saint Mary’s, Mark left for the Basic School in Quantico, Virginia with another Saint Mary’s Graduate, Tim Barrett. Mark served as an Infantry, Reconnaissance and Intelligence Officer. In his later years, he served as an Operations Officer for a Marine Expeditionary Unit in Iraq, planned and executed Presidential Security missions in Mongolia and Indonesia. He was also the Operations Officer for the Joint US Military Assistance Group in the Philippines, and the Operations Officer for Marine Corps Forces South. As a strategic planner, he has worked on counter terrorism and counter drug programs in the Philippines, Colombia, Honduras and Guatemala. During his career, he was deployed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Northern Europe and the Arctic Circle. Mark retires as a Lieutenant Colonel, whose awards include the Bronze Star, Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and numerous other awards. Mark lives in Weston Florida with his wife of 15 years and three children.
