Men's Rugby Unites with Cal Rowing for Jog For Jill

Saint Mary's Men's Rugby and Cal Women's Rowing at the 2012 Jog for Jill.

10/13/2012- On Saturday 30+ members of the Men's Rugby team were sure to be present and visible at the Jog For Jill. The nation wide movement brings awareness to lung cancer, and has close ties to the Bay Area and Saint Mary's.  Members of the current rugby team attended high school with Jill, who is best known for leading the California Golden Bears crew as varsity coxswain while fighting against stage IV lung cancer.

Jill spearheaded the first Jog for Jill on February 7, 2010 on the UC Berkeley Campus, which continues to be the largest event in support of lung cancer research.

One of our rugby players, Jordan Bouey, commented on the jog saying, "It felt good to be productive on Saturday morning with good friends to support a good cause. We have alot of respect for this movement," explains Bouey. "We wanted support the cause and the community today, in honor of Jill, and the community of rowers who are out here today with us."
