Minds and Eyes on the Skies

The new observatory at Saint Mary's College was the focus of a front-page story in the Contra Costa Times:

The Heavens are not so far away when seen through a new state-of-the-art telescope now making its home in a white dome atop a hill above Saint Mary's College.

To astronomy and physics professor Ron Olowin, the new observatory and a white cross on a nearby hill are symbols of the College's broad educational mission, from its Catholic base to serious science instruction.

"It's a very wide spectrum of inquiry," he said. "I think that's what we're all about."
