Commencement Mass 2018

The Commencement Mass for Academic Year 2017-2018 will take place on Friday, May 25th, 2018 at 5:00pm in the Joseph Alioto Recreation Center.

Graduates meet at 4:30pm in the JARC to line up for the procession.  Please come in your graduation gowns (no caps).

Rooted in our Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts tradition at Saint Mary's College, we gather on the eve of Commencement to give thanks, praise and reflect for the gifts given and received during your time here.  Students of all faiths, their families and friends are cordially invited to participate in this liturgy and to bless one another with your presence.

How to Volunteer:

Any graduate who would like to be a liturgical minister (e.g. read scripture or another speaking role, either in English or another language, be a Eucharistic Minister, carry a banner, bring up the gifts of bread and wine, help set the altar, sing in the choir/play an instrument) or take another active role at this special Mass should contact Fr. Hai Ho, OFMCap at hmh3@stmarys-ca.edu .

Any current student, faculty, or staff who would like to assist at the Commencement Mass as a hospitality minister or any other liturgical minister should also contact Fr. Hai by May 8th.

*Please note: All liturgical ministers will be required to come to a practice at Joseph Alioto Recreation Center on Thursday, May 24th (time TBA), or immediately following the Commencement Ceremony rehearsal on Friday, May 25th.

**Student assistants who help out at the Mass will be expected to work at the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 26th in return for the privilege of staying overnight in the residence hall that weekend.

Disability needs:

If anyone in your family or if any of your friends who will be attending the Mass need special seating, please contact Fr. Hai Ho hmh3@stmarys-ca.edu by May 8th and let him know.
