Need a book, article, or DVD the SMC Library doesn’t have?

Don’t give up on that source you want -- the SMC Library can get you books, articles, and DVDs from other libraries!

Books, articles, and DVDs from other libraries are usually delivered in 2-3 business days. You can check out most physical books for 3+ weeks, and scanned articles/chapters are yours to keep.

For physical books and DVDs: Use Link+

(Watch this video for a demo of Link+)

  1. If you want a book or DVD that the SMC Library doesn’t already have (ask us if you’re not sure!), search the Link+ catalog.

  2. You’ll get an email when your item has arrived and is ready to pick up.

  3. If Link+ doesn’t have a book you need, you can try requesting it through ILLiad, but it could take longer to get here.

For digital articles and book chapters: Use ILLiad

(Watch this video for a demo of ILLiad)

  1. Once you’ve found an item you want and checked that the SMC Library doesn’t already have it (ask us if you’re not sure!), log in to ILLiad with your SMC login and submit a request. (Or, if you’ve found the item through a library database, you’ll often see a direct link to ILLiad there.)

  2. You’ll get an email with a link when your article/chapter scan is ready to download.
