New Academic Director of the Professional MBA Program

The School of Economics & Business Administration is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Yung-Jae Lee as Academic Director of the Professional MBA (PMBA) program starting March 1, 2012. In his new position, Professor Lee will be responsible for the strategic direction of the PMBA program, academic direction and curriculum changes/improvement, academic standards and assessment, practicum/professional development program session development and implementation, opening and closing session participation, student academic issues and standards, and program recruitment interfaces on an as required basis. He will be responsible for the implementation of the changes in the curriculum of the PMBA program once they have been approved by the College. He will work with the Associate Dean of Graduate Business and Global Programs on these key aspects of the program.

Yung-Jae Lee is currently a Professor of Operations & Supply Chain Management. He teaches Global Operations and Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Quantitative Methods, Data Analysis, and Business Statistics.  He has taught at the University of California at Irvine, the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, California State University in Fullerton, and California State University in San Marcos. At Saint Mary’s College, Yung-Jae has a distinguished record of teaching and was selected as the recipient of SEBA’s Outstanding Teaching Award at the graduate level in 2011. He has published extensively in leading journals and, most recently, won the Best Paper Award at the Decision Sciences Institute European Conference in Germany in 2011 along with two co-authors. His current research interests include supply chain management, inventory management, scheduling, and operational efficiency of microfinance institutions. Yung-Jae currently serves as a member of the Rank and Tenure Committee, and his past college-wide services at St. Mary’s include tenures as Chair of the Program Review Committee, Chair of the Library Committee, and as the SEBA Senate Representative.  Yung-Jae has also consulted with many global companies such as Roche, McKesson, Abbot, BD, Varian, Lucky, & Walt Disney. Yung-Jae holds his B.A. in English from Korea University and an M.B.A. and Ph. D in Operations Management from the University of California, Irvine.
