Matthew Dellavedova '13

"He could teach a course on motivation. I don't mean that lightly. He has read almost everything I've read about it."
- Mary True, Saint Mary's psychology professor

Weighing in on Delly

Before former Gael guard Matthew Dellavedova '13 made his mark on the NBA he left a lasting impression on Saint Mary's.

He was the first Saint Mary’s men’s basketball player to earn first-team Academic All-America honors, the 2012 WCC Player of the Year and the WCC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2013.

Delly rising to the occasion may be a surprise in the press and on social media but it's no surprise to fellow Gaels.

“I’ve been following the coverage and there’s all this talk about his limitations, but to Delly, it’s all about possibilities…That’s what he is all about.”
—Beth Dobkin, Provost, Saint Mary’s College of California
