COVID-19 Update: Welcome Back to Campus

With the return of in-person instruction this week, we wanted to provide a few important updates and reminders when it comes to COVID-19 procedures and protocols on campus.
- All campus facilities have returned to normal operation this week. This includes the Joseph L. Alioto Recreation Center, campus bookstore, and other shared spaces. You are no longer required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test to use these services. Members of the campus community remain required to either submit proof of vaccination or test weekly.
- Saint Mary’s continues to follow Contra Costa County guidance when it comes to masking. N95 masks are now recommended by the California Department of Public Health as most effective. Staying masked, with mask covering nose and mouth, in all indoor settings on campus remains mandatory throughout Jan Term.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 or do not feel well, report your positive test to the SMC COVID-19 Online Portal, and stay home.
- If someone in your household is sick, stay home.
- If you have not received your booster shot yet and either you or someone in your household is not feeling well, stay home.
- If you think you may be sick, here is a list of suggested actions to take.
- If you are planning to host an indoor event or gathering, you must continue to follow the College’s protocols for hosting an event. If the event includes outside guests, you are required to check for proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test and maintain a guest list.
- Booster shots remain one of the most effective ways to stay protected and are highly recommended. To schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment or booster shot, visit the state’s MyTurn app or website. You may also schedule an appointment through Contra Costa Health Services by visiting its online portal or calling 1-833-829-2626. Local pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens also offer booster shot appointments.
