"I am proud of the way the Gaels played," said head coach Colin Knightly. "Our defense played very well and kept a talented SCAD team under 10 goals. Our Goalie James Plasencia played fantastic; he made several saves on the doorstep, and saw the ball well from outside 10 yards. His 19 saves kept us in the game."

Jordy McManus scored four times for SCAD, which jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes. Saint Mary’s never led, but cut the lead to one late in the first half.

"Our offense had trouble getting into a rhythm, SCAD has very good poles," said Knightly. "In order for us to be successful against Kennesaw on Saturday; we need to clean up our play and reach our full potential." Saint Mary’s (1-1) is off on Friday before playing back-to-back games Saturday (No. 11 Kennesaw State) and Sunday (Emory).
