Convocation to Honor Brother Augustine (Gus) Boquer

To the Saint Mary's College Community of faculty, staff and students:

On Wednesday, April 6, Saint Mary's College of California will be honoring Brother Augustine (Gus) Boquer, FSC, Ed.D., with an honorary doctorate in educational leadership. This event will take place at the Lasallian Convocation held during the College's annual celebration of De La Salle Week.

Brother Gus is being recognized for his many accomplishments in higher education, which include serving as president of De La Salle University–Dasmariñas and of De La Salle–Health Sciences Institute in the Philippines and as a member on numerous national and international boards of higher learning. He has initiated many major projects, including the College of Medicine and the American Studies Resource Center at the University of St. La Salle; the Transformational Centers for Children in Conflict with the Law; and the Kundirana Music Ministry for the Poor, the Sick, the Elderly and the Forgotten.

The Lasallian Convocation will commence at 12:45 p.m. in the Saint Mary's College Chapel, during which time Brother Gus will receive his honorary Ed.D. and give an address to the campus community on the Lasallian Mission. A reception will immediately follow the convocation in Hagerty Lounge, and our faculty, staff, students and guests will have an opportunity to visit with Brother Gus informally.

I invite and encourage you to attend and to help honor Brother Gus as an outstanding Lasallian leader.

Brother Ronald Gallagher, FSC
