English 26: Creative Writing Reading Series (Spring 2022)

Course schedule, select Wednesday Evenings at 7:30 following the Creative Writing Reading Series Schedule, with Prof. Matthew Zapruder

*This course fulfills a Creative Writing minor requirement. This is a quarter credit course.

Every semester, some of our finest contemporary writers visit Saint Mary’s to read from their work and to discuss their writing processes. English 26 is a quarter-credit class designed to give students an opportunity to be more active members of the audience. The student will attend the events in the Creative Writing Reading Series (held on several Wednesday evenings), read the work of the visiting writers, respond in writing, and have a chance to ask the visitor questions about the life of a writer. If it is necessary because of health restrictions to hold readings virtually, the course will be offered asynchronously, with recordings of the readings made available. Otherwise the course will be held in person, and physical attendance at the readings on campus will be required.

Physical attendance at all events in the Reading Series; brief reviews of all events and a longer review of one writer’s book.
