Professional Overview: 

Dr Aponte-Moreno is an Associate Professor in the Management Department at the School of Economics and Business Administration. He teaches a wide variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in leadership communication, management, strategy and global business.

Professor Aponte-Moreno's research looks at how the arts can be used to develop leadership skills such as communication, authenticity and empathy. He is also interested in global business and writes extensively about the economic and political crisis of Venezuela, his native country. His doctoral dissertation analyzed the leadership discourse of former Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez over a period of nine years.

Prior to joining academia, Dr Aponte-Moreno worked in corporate finance for various international financial institutions including Japan's Mizuho Corporate Bank, France's Crédit Lyonnais, and the British commodities trading company ED&F Mann. He has lived and worked in various countries including France, the UK, the US and Venezuela. He is fluent in English, Spanish and French, and has over 20 years of experience as a stage actor.
